My name is Cristobal Rivera, I am the Program Coordinator for the El Paso Symphony's Tocando After School Community Music Project. Ms. Amalia worked as a teaching artist with Tocando from the early stages of our program back in September of 2013 through July of 2015. During Ms. Amalia's employment with EPSO and Tocando, she displayed a remarkable sense of community and a strong character - able to create strong bonds with her students and adapt to changes quickly. Ms. Amalia has a unique teaching style which makes her students feel at ease and have fun while learning both theory and technique. Ms. Amalia has played a crucial role in Tocando's success and continues providing support to our students by volunteering occasionally for special projects such as the "Terrific Trumpet Trio" in which three former Tocando students, led by Ms. Amalia joined our Strings Orchestra for a concert at the El Paso Museum of Art. Ms. Amalia has been a remarkable teaching artist with Tocando and I am convinced that she would be a great asset to your organization!
